The Kingdom of Barmunz

The Kingdom of Baramunz, though a single state, consists of four individual vassal states – Kadrinza, Wulthrung, Konkurbaz, and Mighdal – united together against the Erelian Empire. The King of Baramunz, Zuri, rests in the most powerful state, Kadrinza, and the rest of the states serve as independent states who merely provide money and army resources to fight the Empire.

The nation of Baramunz is surrounded by the Erelian Empire to the east and Vallonde to the north, south, and west. Its interior consists of each of three major states -Kadrinza, Wulthrung, and Konkurbaz – consisting of Mountainous regions; however, in the south, Mighdal is the capital of the Hill dwarves, who, though a minority, have joined forces with the kingdom – therefore, the South consists not of mountains but rather of hills. The Sasparin Sea is on the east coast, and other small bodies of water are also scattered throughout it.

History and Culture

Baramunz was an alliance formed between four vassal states: Kadrinza, Wulthrung, Konkurbaz, and Mighdal . These states consist of a central capital ruied by a feudal lord, surrounded by merchants and businessmen in the capital, and large populations of serfs toiling in the mines (in the former three) or the fields (in the case of Mighdal and the Hill Dwarves).

The alliance, formed in 5000, was made to challenge the Erelian Empire. The empire was seen as a threat to the Dwarven vassal states, and as such, the Dwarven ruled states formed an alliance to go against it. However, much of the states did not change, raising vassal troops from unwilling serfs and fighting a losing battle with outdated technologies. As time went on, the Kingdoms troops were reduced so far that it was forced to fight on the defensive – and since the Empire cared more about Thaczil, it survived; but should the Empire ever turn its eye on Baramunz, the Dwarven kingdoms have ended.

Demographics and Biodiversity

The leadership of Baramunz primarily consists of Dwarves, ruled by Zuri of Kadrinza, and with 3 other dwarven lords of the vassal states.

A majority of the population is also dwarven, with 90% being dwarven, and 10% being split among other “Good” races nearly equally, except elves, who are often despised here. “Evil” races, such as orcs, goblins, and other beings – as well as mixed race beings for most types, including half-elves – are often killed on sight by the military. However, much of the population is apathetic to this unless they are being directly harmed, and will go along their way regardless.

As for wildlife in the lands, mindless monsters of the mountains and hills found in Ellonde can be located, along with sea monsters on the coast; and most of these monsters roam freely, desecrating towns and mines as they wish. Monster hunters are one of the most sought out specialists in the land, freelance or professional, for good pay. Goblins, orcs, and other sentient monsters are – unlike in the Empire – discriminated against and killed on sight by the military or mercenaries. Outside of that, typical species of animal are found in the mountains, hills, and seas (ie, in an alternate reality, equivalent to Europe/ North America).

Economy and Politics

The system adopted by Baramunz uses the gold, silver, copper, and platinum system present since time immemorial as its primary currency. Opton Banking, the banking monopoly of Ellonde, under Pipper Diles, holds a monopoly here. However, the old system of bartering is still allowed to function at present.

The political system consists of the King of Baramunz, Zuri, who is located in Kadrinza, and the Lords of the three vassal states, each ruling at the states capitals. The court system runs on a feudal basis, with the Lords having final say in their domains, and the King having final say in the nation. A court also exists in each vassal state and the kings palace, where all decisions are made through discussion. As Kadrinza is a Dwarven state, Dwarves are the only representatives in the nations ruling class.

Foreign Relations and Military

The military of Baramunz consists of King Zuri’s personal army, raised from levies in his court; the levies raised from the lords of the vassal states; and hired mercenaries who work for the Kingdom. Baramunz is a minor threat to the Erelian Empire, and with the empires forces numbering nearly 170 times greater than the states, there is little it can do. It primarily fights with melee weapons, though crude magic and ranged weapons are also used, they are ineffective against the Empires superior technology. At this point, Baramunz is thankful the Empire’s gaze is not upon them, and are just holding up their barriers on the border with the empire to survive.

Baramunz is allied with the Republic and the other monarchical states, and fighting the Erelian Empire. However, tensions are tight between the Elven states, and war will probably break out should the Empire disappear.
